While over in Stockholm this past summer I found out there's a 17th century viking ship still intact. Here is the link to the museum. It was closed by the time I got there so I went bar hopping.

Was that Willie Dixon or John Mayhall? Either way, another great show. Rick, don't give up on mead. I've tasted some meads that are just «okay» . . . mine . . . and some that were AWESOME!!! As soon as I make one on that latter category, I'll forward one to you!

Just watched the video. I've never seen mead that dark! Something's not right here! Unless the honey was from buckwheat, which doesn't make the best of meads.

I have yet to hear (or see) anyone give mead a decent review. I simply does not appeal to me whatsoever. Of the 3 I've tried, I've tasted things that would be considered major faults in both beer and wine. Oxydation, vinegar tastes, cloyingly sweet flavors, and bitter aftertastes -- maybe that's why the vikings were such bad asses. They swilled right through all of that like it was nothing.

I love the metal of this show - a nice detour from your great bread-n-butter shows.
- I think if you want a good mead you got to make it yourself and put it away for three years. Seriously, 3 years makes a mead almost perfect! At minimum you'd want a year to really help it along - under than and you're asking for disappointment.
- Skullsplitter is truly world class.
- Old Cruste needs a couple years to really mature into what it can be, but is one of my favorite American Barley Wines out there.
