Show 86 - No Style No Class

We shed our ideas of beer styles and classes on this installment of Big Foamy Head. We have some fine beverages from Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, a couple from Andelot, and an old favorite from Trader Joes that you really cannot put into a category. We are joined by Clare, Dave and Terry from down the street, as well as Mike from the hood, and Rick phoning in with some beers from Avery and other fine brewers. Its a mixed bag of a show icord.org/soma-carisoprodol/ with some puckery beers, some peppery beers, and more. Add in some unique pairings musically (think Dimebag Dave and David Allen Coe) and you have quite the classless show. So listen up or there will be now bowliken for you...

Beers consumed during this show:

Andelot Cuvee Angelique
Andelot Cuvee Diabolique
Jolly Pumpkin Ora de Calabaza
Jolly Pumpkin La Roja
Trader Joe 2006 Anniversary Ale from Unibroue

Show 85 - Imperial IPA Show

We get our hops on with this show. There is nothing like a good smack-in-the-face taste of an IPA, so it gets that much better with Double or Imperial IPAs. Join us as we run through some hopalicious beers and, of course, provide totally irrelevant social commentary. Check out the new opening as well!

Show 84 - Pool Beer

We celebrate Elvis Week and dodge the killer heat by the pool with some cool Hawaiian beers. These babies come in cans so you can tote them in your cooler cause all of Maui is a beach. The heat has also affected our typical music selection with a little pop punk and Swedish Death Metal for your enjoyment. Join us while we get our Elvis and Aloha on!

Show 83 - Great Divide Brewery Show

We sample a wide variety of beers from Great Divide Brewery and get into a very deep (and wide) discussion about styles, reviews, judging and so forth. Rick Sellers from Pacific Brew News joins us and really educates our ignorant asses on the hows and whys of judging. Great music and more. Listen up!

Show 81 - Aggressive Beer Show

Our first show with Rick out in the field, we explore some seriously aggressive beers. No, this is not a new category of beers, just some that we found to be particularly interesting and assertive.

Plus: if you want to hear some crying in your beer, listen to our alcohol-addled rantings as we attempted show 80. Mindless babbling and some great beers from Craig of Brew Bubbas located here.

Show 82 - Red, White, Black and Blue All Over Show

No, its not a typo. We are putting this show out before show 81 because of the timeliness of it. Where is show 80? You find out on show 81, get it? Join us as we sample some great new beers (or are they?) from Dogfish Head. We talk with Claus from Dogfish, get a field report from Rick on brewfests in Colorado, and get the blues news from our musical guest, Blind Mississippi Morris. Morris is in danger of losing his home due to pressure from the city (a.k.a. The Man). We do our part to help save this bluesmans home and you can too by calling (901) 516-8956 to make a donation. Listen to the show for address and donation information and enjoy some great tunes from an authentic Delta bluesman.

Beers we enjoyed on this show:
Dogfish Head Red and White
Dogfish Head Black and Blue
Dogfish Head ImmortAle
Dogfish Head Raison d'Extra

Show 78 - Clarkehead Brewery Show

Yep, its true. We have the ever elusive host of Dude Night and proprietor of Clarkehead Brewery on tap for this show! These cat based beers (a tiny portion of feline matter in every bottle) go down smooth. Too bad the conversation doesn't. Listen in as Phil shares his secrets for fantastic brews and food pairings. Things get ugly when we start discovering crystal meth as alleged secret ingredients and pair it with lung cancer. Listen to the show and you will understand all. Great beers, great tunes and a great soliloquy on why Beer is Art from Phil. Bottoms up!

Beers sampled this show:
Clarkehead Brewery Clarkeweizen
Clarkehead Brewery Fat Abbey
Clarkehead Brewery Hairy Porter

Show 77 - Boscos Beer Show

Sorry for the delay folks, but the audio on this show has been quite difficult. First off, its a live show, our first attempt and we are a bit challenged on the mic. Having said that, the conversation and beer could not be better! Chuck Skypeck, brewmaster and founder of Boscos in Memphis, shares a lot of wisdom and experience with us about brewing beer, pairing food with beer, and a somewhat x-rated version of Rick tapping the keg! Great stuff every beer fan will enjoy. We also are joined by many of the folks at Boscos, staff and patrons alike. Add to that some great music by Blues Entertainer of the Year Tab Benoit and you have something for everyone.

Show 76 - Belgium Ale Beer Show

Trophy Mo' good times from the guys at BigFoamyHead! We're fresh off of our first barbeque competition - The Southaven Springfest BBQ. The team we were on, B3 (beer, blues and bbq), took third place in the shoulder competition for the division we were in. Hey, thats a pretty good accomplishment for a new team using a borrowed smoker. Enough to make us downright giddy.

We have a full beer studio for this show. We're joined by our neighbor Claire, who has a lovely British accent. It's very nice on the ears. Of course it's also a good excuse for us to be juvenile!

Photo bucket pictures - The Test Cook and Competition Cook.

More promotion of the MIM Music Fest, which has come and gone. Lots of music from our featured artist, Popa Chubby and we close out with some Iggy Pop.

We do a listener contributed Beer Haiku to add a bit of class and culture to your lives.

Beers we sampled this show...

  • Brewery Ommegang Abbey Ale
  • Delirium Noel
  • Victory Twelve
