Audio Extra - James Brown Farewell

The Big Foamy Head entourage made a pilgrimage this past May to see the legends of blues, soul and rock and roll - Jerry Lee Lewis, Booker T and the MGs, B.B. King and the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. JB was the last one we expected to leave us, but leave us he did on Christmas this year. Open that special beer you've been saving and join us for a half hour farewell to a true pioneer in the music business and the Hardest Working Man in Show Business, James Brown.

Show 58 - Allagash Beer Show

BeerWe are two for two with a second show featuring fantastic Belgian-style beers! Allagash Brewery delivers the goods, and we warm up with a 400 year old recipe for Wassail, which is basically hot beer with liquor added. Yum. Also on tap is some original Memphis Music from BlueJazz, reports from the field from Rick Lyke with devastating NASCAR news, and animal stories galore. Susan joins us again, and we give an update on the topless club and manatee situation in Memphotown. Great beers and a great sendoff to Christmas.

Take your top off and parade around your living room with this great show! Download here.

Show 57 - Brewery Ommegang Belgian Beer

Brewery Ommegang LogoFrom Cooperstown, NY, the Home of Baseball comes Brewery Ommegang - «where brewing is an art and partaking is a passion!» Each of these beers were a treat.

Okay, we ran really long on this show. We are sorry. And we apologize. You can skip the songs if you're so inclined, but you'll be doing yourself a disservice - the music is excellent this go around.

What do Fritos and Chili, Running, and Algae Bioranches have in common? Not much. Does that stop us from talking about them? Heck no!

We're stepping up the quality of the show by bringing in an informed guest to do the news segment. All in an effort to get better information to you, our listeners, in a timely manner. Please help welcome Rick Lyke from lyke2drink.blogspot.com!

Show 56 - Avery Brewing Company

Avery Brewing Company LogoBe warned: There is heavy breathing on this show. Maybe its because of the fantastic Avery beer, maybe its because of the new mics, but it is there in full force. Tom Mascari joins us as we take a tour of the nectar produced by Avery Brewing Company. We lead off with Iggy Pop, noted blues artist, and provide yet another musical moment in history. Big Foamy Head - drink beer, learn stuff. What a concept!

Show 53 - Great Pumpkin Beer Show

We are joined by the Beer Wives on this show to review a medley of Pumpkin Beers. Since it is that time of the year, specialty beers are popping up and we are not afraid to try them. Music today is LIVE blues (not necessarily live people, but live music) since thats the way to really listen to it. Performers are Albert King, Black Crowes and Barbecue Bob (the real dead one). Audio on this show is a bit weird so try not to get uncomfortable with mouth-breathing noises... We also discovered that getting the beer wives settled down to do a show is sort of like herding cats.

Audio Extra - 10th Annual Brewgrass Festival

Join Rick as he and his son enjoy some fantastic beers and listen to some great bluegrass music at the Brewgrass Festival in the Smokey Mountains of Asheville, NC - home of the Biltmore Estates. With 7 hours, 40 breweries, about 3 beers per brewer... the audio gets sloppy towards the end... even after being seriously edited.

This annual event hosted by the Great Smokies Craft Brewers Association and benefiting Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Western North Carolina is one of the most popular beer and bluegrass events in the Southeast.

Our Audio Extra's do not have intro's or outro's or much in the way of transitions between audio segments. This audio extra does feature music from a wonderful artist named RobinElla and the CC String Band. She's a regular in the Knoxville/Asheville music scene, but a new discovery for us.

Show 49 - AleSmith Beer Show

We drink some smooth beers from AleSmith Brewing Company out of San Diego CA and listen to Luther Allison and Duwayne Burnside belt out some great blues. Our preshow sampling put us in great form for this show. Rick does a mild (some would say amateurish) rant. Dick relates his journey to the Annual Cooper-Young festival. Join us as the beer www.namikeystonepa.org/klonopin/ starts talking (yes, we make grandiose plans for the future!) and get some Christmas ideas of a musical nature.
